  3. You probably obtained this program from a shareware
  4. distributor or a bulletin board system. No matter how you
  5. received it, don't forget to support the programmer by
  6. registering the software. It is easy to do. Each time you
  7. exit the program, you will be asked whether you would like
  8. an order form printed out. Just print out the form, fill it

  13. HOW TO GET STARTED
  14. ------------------
  15. Once you have loaded all files onto your hard drive and have
  16. de-compressed them, type GO to start the program shell. From
  17. within the shell, you can run Krazy-Face and any future
  18. programs you obtain from Progressive Products. If you prefer
  19. to bypass the shell and run Krazy-Face from DOS, type KFACE.

  34. Starting Kid-Shell
  35. ------------------
  36. Type GO to start Kid-Shell.
  37. Kid-Shell is a shell program used to run all of Progressive
  38. Products kid programs.  This allows your child to enter and
  39. exit from Krazy-Face, Krazy-Creatures, Krazy-Kritters,
  40. Picture-Surprise and Scrambled-Kids all by themselves.
  41. (Note: Krazy-Face is distributed through shareware and comes
  42. by itself.  To receive any other Progressive Products
  43. programs mentioned above, see the ordering information when
  44. exiting Krazy-Face or call Progressive Products for the
  45. latest selection of the finest children's software).

  47. If for some reason Kid-Shell does not run, try running
  48. Krazy-Face directly from DOS.  To do this, type kface.
  49.  
  50. General Commands
  51. ----------------
  52. Controls:
  53. The left mouse button is used to select items, the right
  54. mouse button is used to open or close the over head menu
  55. screens.  When horizontal menu screens have more on them
  56. than what will fit on the screen, a large arrow will appear
  57. in a green box on the side of the menu which contains more
  58. selections.  By placing your mouse cursor over the green
  59. arrow box, you can advance the menu in that direction.
  60. Also, by holding down the left mouse button when the cursor
  61. is over the green arrow box, you can speed up the scrolling
  62. of the menu.

  64. Music:
  65. If you have a sound card and want to turn the music off,
  66. simply click on the musical note icon located in the main
  67. menu.

  69. Starting Krazy-Face from Kid-Shell:
  70. Once in Kid-Shell, click on the top icon with the picture of
  71. the face on it.  This will bring you to the main screen of
  72. Krazy-Face which contains the blank face selections.  From
  73. here, you may do one of two things: select a blank face by
  74. clinking the left mouse button on it, or click on the GO
  75. icon at the top of the screen without selecting a face.  If
  76. you choose a blank face, a red blinking box will indicate
  77. which selection you have made.  Once a face has been chosen,
  78. click on the GO icon to enter the paint portion of the
  79. program.  The blank face will be loaded and ready for
  80. drawing on.  If you did not choose a face then the paint
  81. area will be white, ready to be used as a children's paint
  82. program.

  84. Creating Faces, Paintings and Drawings:
  85. The paint menu contains seven icons: EXIT, FACE, STAMP PAD,
  86. SHAPES, COLOR PALETTE, DRAWING PEN, ERASER.  The function of
  87. each icon is as follows:
  88.  
  89. EXIT: Exits you back to the main menu.
  90.  
  91. FACE: Brings up the facial features menu which contains:    
  92.       eyes, noses, mouths, and eyebrows.  Left click the
  93.       mouse button over a feature to select it.  Once
  94.       selected the feature will track with your mouse.
  95.       Click the left mouse button in order to place the
  96.       feature onto the screen.  If you want to erase a
  97.       feature you have placed on the picture, you can do
  98.       this in one of two ways.  The first way is to use a
  99.       different feature than was used the first time, but it
  100.       must be in the same family of features.  For example:
  101.       if you place an eye on the face and want a different
  102.       eye instead, simply grab a different eye and wave it
  103.       over the old one to make the old one vanish.  You
  104.       cannot use a nose or anything else to erase an eye.
  105.       Using different features to erase old ones works as
  106.       long as you do not exit the facail features menu.  If
  107.       you leave the facail features menu and re-enter it
  108.       with the same face, the features you have chosen will
  109.       not be able to be erased using the above method.  You
  110.       will have to use the erase menu which is located at
  111.       the very right in the paint menu.  The erase menu will
  112.       erase anything except the blank face you originally
  113.       started with.

  115. STAMP PAD: Accesses colorful pre-made pictures to add to the
  116.            face or drawing.
  117.  
  118. SHAPES: This contains various shapes to use in the pictures.
  119.  
  120. COLOR PALETTE: This contains a large selection of colors
  121.                that can be used to fill in different areas
  122.                of the picture.
  123.  
  124. DRAWING PEN: This menu gives the artist a large selection of
  125.              colored pencils to use on his or hers picture.
  126.  
  127. ERASE: Located in the erase menu are various shaped erasers
  128.        to use on the pictures.

  130. Exiting
  131. -------
  132. To leave Krazy-Face and return to the blank face menu,
  133. simply click on stop and exit until you get to the save or
  134. no save menu.  Here, you will be asked to select the Gallery
  135. (save for future display or changes) or the Garbage (not
  136. saved).  Once you have returned to the blank face menu, you
  137. can either select another blank face or blank screen or exit
  138. to the Kid-Shell.  Upon exiting Krazy-Face, you will go
  139. into an order screen which gives you all the information you
  140. need to register Krazy-Face.
